Transistor is the podcast hosting and syndication platform we use to distribute your podcast to listeners everywhere. Once an episode is produced and approved, Transistor is where it gets published to the world.
Transistor hosts your podcast's audio files and generates an RSS feed, which is the standard way podcasts get distributed to listening platforms. When we publish an episode through Transistor, it automatically appears on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and dozens of other podcast apps. Transistor also provides analytics on downloads, listens, and audience growth.
Important! Sometimes we need to access Apple Podcasts—the largest podcast platform!—through your Apple ID, so have that ready. Most clients don't have a company Apple ID, so they use their own personal Apple ID accounts.
In most cases, you don't need to interact with Transistor directly. Your Snapmarket team handles episode uploads, show notes, metadata, and publishing. However, here are a few things that are helpful to understand:
Your podcast RSS feed is the unique URL that connects your show to every listening platform. Once it's set up (which we handle during onboarding), it stays the same for the life of your podcast. If you ever move to a different hosting provider, the RSS feed can be redirected so your subscribers follow you seamlessly.
Episode analytics are available through Transistor's dashboard.
Show notes and descriptions are written by your Snapmarket team as part of the Voice to Market content package and entered into Transistor when the episode is published.
Some clients prefer to have their own login to Transistor to view analytics, check episode details, or reference past show notes. If you'd like access, let us know through the support portal and we'll set you up. The interface is straightforward and you won't need to manage anything—it's purely for visibility.
If you need to update your podcast's cover art, description, or category on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or other platforms, those changes are made through Transistor and propagate automatically. Just submit the request through the support portal with the details, and we'll update it for you.
