Descript Rooms is our podcast and video recording studio. It's the platform you'll use to record conversations with your Snapmarket team, co-hosts, and guests remotely.
Descript Rooms captures high-quality audio and video from each participant through your web browser. Each person's audio and video are recorded locally on their device and uploaded separately, which means the final recording isn't affected by internet hiccups or connection quality during the session. The result is broadcast-quality audio and video, even when participants are recording from different locations.
You can join a Descript Rooms session from any modern web browser on a desktop or laptop. No software download is required for guests. For the best results, use headphones (AirPods or any headphones work well), position your lighting in front of you rather than behind, and choose a quiet space with a clean background.
For more detailed gear recommendations at various budget levels, see our guide on setting up your podcast studio.
Your Snapmarket producer will set up the Descript Rooms session and send you a link to join. When you click the link, you'll enter a virtual studio where you can see and hear all participants. From there you or the Snapmarket producer can hit record when ready.
A typical session runs about 30 minutes, though this can vary depending on the format. If you're doing a Voice to Market engagement, each session produces enough raw material for a full content package (edited episode, blog, newsletter, social clips, and show notes).
Once the session ends, Descript uploads the high-quality recordings from each participant. Our production team then handles all editing, mixing, and post-production in Descript's editing suite. You don't need to do anything after the session—we'll send the finished deliverables to you for review through the approval process.
If you experience issues joining a session, try refreshing your browser, switching to Chrome (which tends to work most reliably), or checking that your browser has permission to access your camera and microphone. If problems persist, reach out to your Snapmarket team through the support portal and we'll help troubleshoot.
